Junior Development Squad for 2025 to 2026:

The B&GPS rowing club is offering 2 performance training squads. Each squad will have a maximum of 10 athletes. One is for U/19 rowers who will typically be in their school 1^st VIII or Year 10 Division 1 crews in 2025 and will be under 19 years in 2026. The other squad is for U/17 athletes who will currently be in Year 8 and Year 9 Division 1 crews in 2025 at their schools and will be under 17 years old in 2026.

These programmes are planned to target Qld State Championship Regatta in January, NSW State Championships in February, and the Australian Rowing Championships in March in Tasmania. Attendance at these events will be determined by placings in the lead up regattas, and the realistic capabilities of the athletes to maintain competitive status up to the end of March.

Note: We cannot offer a generic off-season school programme like previous years.

We are currently reviewing our operational capabilities for the October 2025 to March 2026 season. Part of our process is to identify coaches who are competent and capable and can support the activities of the students who are asked to sign up for the Junior Development Programme (JDS) at the club.

In anticipation of resolving our coaching hiring process, we need to ascertain what level of interest is in the rowing community to join the JDS squad. To help with this please register the interest of your child by using the registration form below.

Once we get athletes registered, we will be able to resolve how many coaches we require, and which squads we are able to support. If we do not get sufficient coaching support then we will not be able to offer one or both of the squads.

We will then be able to send offers of acceptance and registration to the students who fit the criteria for the squads that we can create. This will happen by the end of September 2025.

Junior Development Squad for 2025 to 2026:

01/09/2025 - The B&GPS rowing club is offering a high-performance training squad for the 25/26 summer season for the U19 level.  There are specific standards and minimum requirements for this season, and the program will be by invitation only.

The programme is planned to target QLD Grade Championships in December, QLD State Championship Regatta in January, and NSW State Championships in February. The club will facilitate any girls wanting to compete at the Australian Rowing Championships in March in Tasmania; however, attendance at these events will be determined by placings in the lead-up regattas.
