High-Performance Squads 2023- 2024 Season:
A Pathway forward in Rowing:
THE Brisbane & GPS Rowing Club’s high-performance program comprises women’s squads from U/17 through to Open categories. Our programs are designed and resourced to provide an enjoyable environment and the support needed to maximise its young members’ potential and enable them to achieve success at State, National and perhaps International level.
The focus this season will be on athletes competing at Queensland State Championships in January 2024 and the Australian National Championships in Sydney in late March 2024
Our various programs are designed to support and facilitate the development of athletes with a strong professional approach to their training and competitive rowing while balancing it with a healthy lifestyle and academic studies or work. Allied health professionals such as sports psychologists, nutritionists, strength and conditioning coaches will be utilised throughout the season to assist our accredited coaches.
In the past eight years, our program has produced nine Australian representatives, competing in sculling and sweep events at world U/19, U/23 and Senior A championships.
In 2016 a current club member, Jess Hall represented Australia at the Rio Olympic Games. In 2017 Taylor McArthy-Smith represented Australia in World Rowing – Junior Championships
Other young members who successfully represented Australia in U/23 and U/19 world championship teams have been Jessica Hall, Gabby Kukla, Amy James, Eleanor Wilson, Chloe Hill, Sarah Zillmann, Regan Spark and Rosy Cartmill.
